A tragic traffic accident in eastern Poland has ended in heartbreak after a respected local politician succumbed to severe injuries sustained in a collision. The incident occurred in the village of Kocudza Pierwsza, located in the Lublin region, and has left family members, colleagues, and residents mourning the loss of a man widely known for his dedication to public service and his commitment to the local community.

The victim was identified as Grzegorz Berdzik, a longtime city councilor in Józefów who spent many years serving residents and participating in local government initiatives. He was 48 years old.

According to information provided by authorities in Janów Lubelski County, the accident took place on October 29 on a roadway connecting the areas of Dzwola and Frampol. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene after reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and two passenger vehicles.

Police officials later released preliminary details regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash. Sergeant Faustyna Łazurová explained that a 71-year-old driver operating a Honda passenger vehicle attempted to avoid striking another car traveling ahead of him. During that maneuver, the driver entered the opposite lane of traffic.

Unfortunately, an oncoming motorcyclist was traveling in that lane at the same time.

The Honda collided head-on with the motorcycle before also making contact with the side of the vehicle the driver had initially tried to avoid. The chain of events resulted in a devastating crash that left the motorcyclist critically injured.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and assessed the situation. Due to the severity of his condition, the injured rider was transported to a hospital by an air ambulance helicopter. Medical personnel worked urgently to stabilize him before transferring him for advanced treatment.

Doctors continued fighting for his life after his arrival at the hospital. Despite extensive medical efforts and continuous care, his injuries proved too severe. Two days after the accident, Grzegorz Berdzik passed away.
